Today I spent the morning playing with my new camera re-shooting my stationery stock. My Etsy shop needed a bit of a makeover and I've FINALLY got round to building a store front in my website!
As well as shooting the cards and notebooks I already have in stock, I've been ticking off my to do list of creating templates for all the bespoke prints and gifts I'd like to launch before Christmas time starts to kick in - the first of which is my bespoke hand-drawn greetings card! I've been asked by friends before to make hand painted cards for their loved ones from which I've received great feedback, and it also feels wonderful providing this personalised and unique service!
They are hand drawn opposed to digital templates because the market is saturated with beautifully designed customisable digital prints and cards, and although I love working digitally, I want to get back in touch with my roots, before the world of Wacom tablets took me in! Back in college and uni I experimented with all sorts of materials and make making, and secretly I miss getting messy! Also, a hand made one of a kind print or card makes the gift even more special, don'tcha think.
I've been spending a lot of this year so far working two part time jobs (aaaargh!) saving money for my three week USA road trip in September (yaaaaay!) and in between, somehow finding time to make new patterns and work on a few freelance projects! I'm now only at one job now as the saving situation is complete, so now I've finally found time to blog my most recent work!
I was commissioned by a Graphic Designer to make a pattern for her branding project (below) and I've designed logos for two small businesses.
I've made a range of new greeting cards, some with my floral patterns on, the others are aimed at new arrivals and little birthdays to test the baby/child market :) They're available on my etsy shop.
I also entered the latest Tigerprint competition, of which I was shortlisted for! That was pretty cool!
I've been doing more work for Pets at Home! I'm still working there part time in the Winchester store - which I love! - and I love to volunteer my services to design fun POS and posters to promote things. I designed this poster for a Charity Fun day in the Southampton next month, and is displayed in all local stores in the area!
A while back, I designed a T-Shirt for an upcoming girlswear brand Climbing Trees. It's a project I'm very passionate about, as their manifesto is to challenge gender stereotypes and create clothing for girls who love dinosaurs, pirates, monsters, football etc. And today, they've finally launched their website, which is amazing! So my first freelance gig for childrenswear is now out there in the real world for people to buy!
So that's it right now, I think I've covered the majority of what I've been up to! I'm currently working on two projects right now; another branding project and an e-book cover, all thanks to online platform Reedsy! Check out my designer's profile here.
I must remember to keep updating my blog as I go! Over and out!
I've had a busy couple of months so far in 2015! I've been commissioned to design logos and branding for two small businesses, received a few personalised orders over Valentine's as well as designing new work for my brand Harwoodian! I've decided to create a brand away from my name because I feel it's more catchy a name, and I can keep the two branches of my work - my shop and what I sell, and my freelance career separate. Although they both go hand in hand, as building a small business works as part of my portfolio!
I've cracked out the watercolours and have designed my first two greeting cards for my upcoming new and improved online shop. There is a tropical/nautical theme running through my brand, inspired by my surroundings in Southampton as well as my interest in all things nautical and natural. And also my fascination of hawaiian print shirts!
I'll keep you posted about my new stock, as well as my work on the branding work!
I've had fun whipping up a couple of lovey dovey card designs this week. With V-Day fast approaching, why not order a small, hand made and unique card?
I've made a couple of cards with a cute message on the front - 'Your Face is Wonderful' and a firm favourite from my followers - 'I Really, Really, Really Like You.'
I've also designed a few cards you can personalise with a hand written name of your S.O!
All my cards are available to order on my shop here.
Get your orders in soon if you want your personalised card by Valentine's Day! If not, they also make great anniversary or birthday cards too!
Wow! Didn't Christmas just creep up on us this year! I've spent all month designing fun Christmas patterns for my website and for a big greeting card order and I also made some pet inspired prints for a charity event at my day job at Pets at Home, Winchester Store!
We as a company have been raising money for the Dogs Dinners campaign, and I did my bit for charidee by making festive cards to sell to our awesome customers, all proceeds going to the fundraiser! I made fun patterns of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even fish! Check them out here
It was really lovely hearing nice comments from the customers, the words of support and encouragement were awesome!
Can't wait to make more cards for the next season, perhaps some animal Valentine's designs!
To celebrate this bake-fest weather and to shift some old stock to make room for the new, I'm having a Summer Sale on my etsy shop! Get 15% off by entering the coupon code SUMMER2014 at the checkout! Visit my shop HERE.
Check out my Greeting Card range and my Prints that I have made, and grab them while you can! I can't wait to put my sprinkles and Blackpool inspired patterns on the new stock, so watch this space!
I'm very excited to launch my online shop today!
I have spent the day photographing the leftover prints and greeting cards from my degree show and have listed them on my Etsy Shop!
I'm currently in process of designing a brand new collection, as well as drawing up some ideas leading up to Christmas time!
