Pizza, check. Pasta, check. THE BEST GODDAMN CHEESEY GARLIC BREAD, check. Welcome to Supermarine, the third establishment to open in Woolston's Centenary Quay!
Located just off the Itchen Bridge, Centenary Quay is the new area to check out in Woolston with FREE UNDERGROUND PARKING, GUYS (an absolute rarity around here) and as well as being home to the lovely Mettricks Waterside and Vospers, new Italian restaurant Supermarine has just opened their doors. I was invited along with the always wonderful Soton Bloggers to try out the menu.
First, you're greeted by the lovely interiors of place and although it's literally just opened, it already feels nice and cosy. I love a good tile me, and their pizza oven is decorated in a nice mosaic and the theme continues around the sides of the open kitchen. The bar is full of all sorts of goodness, the wine is delicious.
We were brought out some appetisers including some really juicy olives and an insanely gooey garlic pizza bread with cheese. Now. I've been around the block and I've had my share of cheesey garlic bread in my time. But this was honestly the best. Even typing this now I fancy nipping over there for one (I literally live opposite, it's a miracle that I somehow resist).
Another favourite of mine was the mozzarella and tomato salad, and I also tried a couple of their pasta dishes - their pasta is homemade, people! I had the veggie risotto and the spinach and ricotta cannelloni which was nice and creamy. We also got to try their AMAZING wood fire pizzas, the dough is so good!
Pop over to Woolston and visit Supermarine! Everything is fresh and homemade, and these guys really take pride in what they make and do. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere makes for a great date or birthday meal!
Many thanks to Supermarine and Soton Bloggers!
