We're having a phenomenal heatwave in Southampton at the moment, and what better way to spend it than having a cocktail (or 4) overlooking the fantastic ocean views that we seldom get the chance to see in Southampton. At the new Harbour Hotel in Ocean Village, you can do just that.
I had a fabulous night this week at the press night in the HarBar on 6th, at the night launch of their new Summer evenings. They had delicious drinks to offer, supplied and made by the team at Mermaid Gin from the Isle of Wight! I learned about the history behind Navy strength gin (it's gotta be 57% proof or above, lads!) and the different local ingredients they use in their distillery. I'm definitely going to pop over and visit the distillery, the gin is absolutely delicious! My new fave.
There's a pizza oven at the bar, which is always the perfect partner to your prosecco. They kindly made me a vegetarian pizza and it was delicious, it had all of the olives! They have two restaurants at the Harbour hotel; one for fine dining, and the roof terrace for a more casual vibe. They also serve sharing platters and other dishes, their menu can be found on their website.
The view was incredible, and with the sun not going down until really late, you feel like you're on holiday! I certainly didn't feel like I was in Southampton that night.
The company was of course, always a delight when you're with the Southampton Bloggers! I also got to meet some lovely people and I had an amazing time. I'm definitely going back to make the most of this lovely Summer we're having so far!
