So this week has seen an exciting milestone in my career, and I’m over the moon to announce that I’m now a resident Artist and Maker in the Sorting Office Studios in Eastleigh, Southampton!
The Sorting Office Studios is a bright and spacious co-working space for creatives, where we can work, run workshops and events, such as the ‘open studios’ when it’s open to the public. I have been a guest seller at these open weekends several times, which is how I discovered the studio and hoped to one day have a space!
Having a studio space here is really exciting and motivational. Already my productivity has sky rocketed and I really enjoy working alongside the other residents!
After a year of working from home full-time, things were beginning to get quite lonely. I also felt sluggish and I would get distracted by so many things, either around the house or online. Having a commute and an office to go to has helped me analyse the professional side to my work and business and has separated work life and home life. Plus it’s nice to be out of my pyjamas!
In my first week, I planned my 2020 calendar designs and started painting a new illustration series called ‘Botanical Birthstones.’ Inspired by the months and their associated flowers and birthstones, I’m painting a series of botanical illutrations for the calendar that will also hopefully be a great project for my portfolio. I brought in my new ArtSphere easel which is fabulous, as I can tilt the board anyway I need and it doesn’t take up much space at all.
I also took advantage of the bright light in the studio and took some photos of my new bookmark, which is available to order on my etsy shop.
I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into my new work space, and I will keep you updated on my work and progress!
