Amy goes to Dublin

Back in March, I travelled to Ireland for the very first time! I think I'm 1/4 Irish or something so this trip was definitely one from the bucket list. I couldn't wait to get boozy in the pubs and Martin is a massive Father Ted fan, so we were both very excited!

Dubbers is a right ol' knees up. Temple Bar at night is buzzing with live folk bands and traditional historic pubs. The eponymous Temple Bar pub where we had our last pints for the weekend (my choice was Orchard Thieves cider which was delicious, but I had to pop a few Rennies on the trip as my 3/4 English softness let me down) was great spot to chill out and listen to some live acts. The liveliness of Temple Bar proper mellows out in the daytime though. For a Capitol City, Dublin is very chill and peaceful during the day. The parks are beautiful and the locals (also beautiful) are very friendly. There's plenty of museums and landmarks for literature geeks and Guinness enthusiasts alike.

Here's the ever-sassy Oscar Wilde chillin' on a rock in Merrion Square and there are plaques covered in his quotes. My personal fave is: "I can resist everything except temptation" *shoves chocolate cake in pie hole*

THE FOOD THO. Brother Hubbard is a MUST. It's so good we went twice. The menu has something for all tastes and preferences. On my first visit I ordered this delicious piece of cinnamon ass, and the second time I had a delicious beetroot soup. The others in the group ordered pulled pork and beans, scones with various jams and fresh local coffee that was the tits.

DAMN. Ok, so before I quit meat we went to this amazing and super popular bbq place called PitBros. Here you can order amazing meat platters with all sorts of sides and craft beers. I had brisket, burnt ends, pickles and Mac and cheese. Martins is the ribs. This place is so popular that we had to go for a few drinks in a pub and come back later to get a table so it's definitely worth a visit!

We never go anywhere without visiting the zoo (this was when I started to consider vegetarianism after I made friends with a 4 week old lamb while I was riddled with guilt and indigestion from it's friends I ate the night before). These baby elephants were cool. It's a nice zoo, the enclosures were very spacious and the cookies in the canteen were nice.

So Dubz was great fun, I'd definitely go again which isn't something I say for every trip. There's loads of interesting places to eat, drink and explore. It's just a great place to hang out with friends for the weekend and take a load off.
